I started the skin oil journey a long time ago because I struggled with all the chemicals I was finding in the skin care products I was using. So many of them have ingredients I couldn’t even pronounce and figured out they were not doing my body and health any favours.
I first discovered Argan oil in Germany 2007 (I bought the bottle by mistake, good mistake) before it became the oil of the moment and fell in love with its benefits but the smell was quite strong and overpowering, I did however keep using it as I saw what it was doing for my skin. I had been using skin oils for a long time prior to that and loved what they were doing for my skin including Pomegranate (very thick and sticky), Rosehip (only at night due to it being photosensitive and the inconvenience of having to keep it in the fridge), as well as many other blends of oils all proving themselves to be worthy but just lacking in that special something my skin needed as it became more mature.
In 2014, a trip to Tunisia in North Africa changed everything. I discovered Opuntia Ficus-Indica, known as Prickly pear, Barbary fig and Indian fig and fell in love. I was all consumed with the benefits, richness and softness and knew I needed to share it.
Wild Indian Fig Seed oil is an amazing elixir for your skin and deeply nourishing while being suitable for all skin types. It is extraordinarily high in vitamin E, containing 150 times more than Argan, linoleic acid better known for its ability to heal, hydrate and plump, betalains to help protect against free radicals and very good for stimulating the growth of new skin cells and calming inflammation. It provides amazing hydration not just to the skin but also to hair and nails in this multi beneficial elixir.
It was through this research that in 2016 I started Barbary Coast. Using 100% Pure Wild Indian Fig Seed Oil, aka (Prickly Pear Cactus, Opuntia Ficus-Indica) as my signature ingredient, and slowly developing other products to ensure keeping great skin. As one of nature’s best kept secrets this liquid gold is a must to have in your daily beauty regime.
Barbary Coast recycles any packaging materials and asks that you recycle where you can. We never stop striving to improve our products and our impact on the world.
